building, developed by shooting range industries, is the first of its kind in texas. it will have milo range technology inside, which simulates real-life situations officers face. in just two weeks, officers will begin using the range. cedar park police chief sean mannix says it will help with judgement-based training. “it’s going to be about the most realistic environment we can provide them,” said mannix. the two lane range will also accommodate live fire and abides by federal regulations. a milo range simulator inside will be programed with 700 different scenarios. those scenarios range from incidents where officers should simply talk to the suspect and de-escalate a situation, to incidents requiring deadly force. the range will also allow for officers to move around inside. “if the simulation they’re facing is an active shooter in the school, it’s going to be simulated that they are walking down the hallway to engage that target,” said mannix. jake cook, vice president of (mcsats®), as its name implies, utilizes a prefabricated and modular design concept. prefabrication of the units was done by a company in nevada and then shipped to the hawaii air national guard where it was assembled on an empty asphalt area on the hiang’s compound. because of this, many of the pre-construction costs, such as engineering, architecture and site prep were minimized. its modular design allows it to be disassembled and moved to another location should the need arise. the mcsats® has 12 shooting stalls or lanes and is fully enclosed with heating, ventilation and cooling
